On your own
There are various activities you can do on your own such as going to the beaches, souvenir shopping, or visiting a local bar in Bocas. More active and adventurous options for the afternoons and weekends among others are biking, swimming and canoeing.

Activities this week
On Sundays the School Manager carefully selects the excursions for the coming week and announces these at the blackboard as "Activities this week" at the school. On Monday morning, after having had some information on the content of the excursions you can sign up for them. Deluxe program
If you sign up for the Deluxe program, you receive two half daytrips and one whole daytrip that the School Manager puts together upon arrival, based on your preferences.

Hospital point
visit this 50-foot wall off Isla Solarte a great place to snorkel and see lots of coral and fish, to be reached by motor boat, kayak or canoe.
Playa Bluff
This beach is especially interesting to visit during the turtle season (May till September). When going to Playa Beach by bike, you can be assured of an amazing view as the entire bike ride will lead you along the coast. Or if you don't want to tire yourself out there is always the option of taking a taxi there.
Carenero
Small beaches that are perfect for swimming as well as a place to practice boogie boarding. To be reached by motor boat, kayak, canoe or even swimming! There are several restaurants and bars on the island.
La gruta
Located 8 km out of town, on the road to Boca del Drago you can find this shrine dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen. It is a peaceful place and some people enjoy walking in the cave (that is also full of) where they will find many bats!
Red frog
A 10 to 15 minute boat (ride) trip from Isla Colon, Bastimentos is home to some of Bocas' finest beaches. Red frog is also called "second beach" and is famous for the tiny red poison dart frogs that live on the island.
Mangrove point
At just 5 minutes away from Bocas town and only to be reached by boat or the canoa, you can find this place with nice reefs and no big waves which makes this an ideal spot for snorkeling. At the restaurant you can enjoy a really nice lunch or dinner.
Catamaran Sailing
Snorkling, swimming, eating & drinking on a 42 feet catamaran feet catamaran. unforgettable!
Cacao farm
The educational tour on a cacao farm on the mainland of Bocas del Toro proceeded by a boat trip that sometimes enables you to observe dolphins, makes for a very special day.
Weekend

Eco/tourism with WEKSO ODESEN
this is an organization for Development of sustainable Eco - tourism that supports the preservation of local natural resources and cultural traditions of the NASO, indigenous communities.You first travel to the mainland where you will be waited for by a member of the mentioned organization. After a taxi trip you will get on a boat and go upstream on the enchanting and thrilling Teribe River into the dense jungle of 'La Amistad International Park'. At the edge of the tropical forest you will spend the night in a typical indigenous hut. The next day you will visit the Naso communities and the former jungle survival military training school of Noriega.

PADI dive courses
Because of the great diving spots around Bocas, studying at Spanish by the Sea is a great opportunity to combine Spanish with becoming a certified diver. Our dive instructor speaks English, Spanish, German and Dutch and has a small dive operation which he runs from his house, together with his wife who is also one of our star teachers! You can do all PADI courses from Open Water (beginner) till Dive Master. The course includes instruction, material, tanks and certification. Wave surf course
With extensive coastlines on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Panama is home to some of the finest surfing in Central America. The principal surfing season in Bocas extends from late November to early April, with a short season in June and July. With advanced notice, Spanish by the Sea can arrange affordable, private surf instruction for students, including experienced local instructors, equipment, materials and transportation in one package. Students are advised to bring booties.

Saling course
A Licensed and experienced captain will teach you the basic skills about sailing with a 18 feet Hobbie Cat, and the big 42 feet Catamaran. After the 3-7 day course you will be able to sail the Hobbie Cat alone!
