The campsite.
Located directly on the river bank of the Pacuare, the campsite has fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms and platforms on which the tents are placed and from which you have a spectacular view of the river. Your tent has mattresses and pillows. Sheets and towels are provided. Tropical flowers and fruit trees decorate this piece of paradise.

Students at our school that want to spend a few nights at the campsite, for example to study and relax can make a reservation at the Enrollment form on this website.

Spanish at the campsite
Spanish by the River occasionally carries out Spanish classes at the campsite. You can sign up on the Enrollment form for one of the two River camps that are scheduled ahead. When enrolling for classes as a group (minimum 4 persons) we can arrange a private Spanish by the River camp for you. Please write info@spanishbytheriver.com


Description Spanish at the campsite
Sunday afternoon you first learn how to paddle the raft before arriving at the River Camp in the afternoon, where you will be staying for 6 nights (Sunday first night, Friday last night). Food and drinks are included; nevertheless students and teachers prepare the meals together. In addition, we sell some alcoholic drinks. You'll have classes for 5 days (Monday till Friday) and raft out on Saturday. This day you will see the best part of the river. You finish at Siquirres from where you can either go back to Turrialba to continue classes, or travel to San José, Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast. Next day, from Puerto Viejo, it is a short trip to Spanish by the Sea - Bocas (Panama).

Optional river kayak course
During this stay, you can also take a river kayak course. This includes 3 sessions of a few hours of instruction at the camp site. You will learn how to roll, how to paddle and how to make a ferry. You will also kayak a very small stretch on the river. You won't paddle down the river.

Optional afternoon lectures
On River camps students can take extra afternoon lectures (lecture with discussion) about the following topics: Costa Rica's natural environment & ecology / Indigenous people's history & culture in Costa Rica.
